Design & Build · Warwick, NY

Quiet houses,
honest barns,
built to stay.

A small design-build practice shaping custom homes, barns and restorations across the Hudson Valley. Four decades of drawings, stone, and finish carpentry — one project at a time.

A Neil Wallace project in detail
— About the practice

Forty years in the Hudson Valley.

Neil Wallace Design & Construction has been serving the communities of the Hudson Valley for over 40 years — creating and executing custom designs to fit your lifestyle.

The studio is small on purpose. Every project passes through the same pair of hands from first sketch to final walkthrough, which is the only way we know how to keep the quality honest and the details in proportion.

We draw, we build, we restore. Homes that belong to their landscape. Barns that look like they've always been there. Stone walls that outlast the next generation.

02 · How we work
i.

Site visit & conversation

We walk the land together. You share what you're after — the scale, the uses, the budget. We listen, sketch, take notes.

ii.

Design & drawings

Custom plans drawn to fit the lot, the views, and the way you actually live. Revisions are part of the process, not a line item.

iii.

Build

Framing, stone, finish carpentry — handled by a small, trusted crew. You'll see Neil on site, not a project manager passing messages.

iv.

Walkthrough & punch list

We don't disappear after the keys change hands. Final walk, honest punch list, a year-long check-in.

Rooted in Warwick. Working across the Hudson Valley.

From the studio on East Ridge Road, we take projects throughout Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and the neighboring counties. If it's a drivable morning from Warwick, we'll come walk it.

05 · FAQ
Do you do both the design and the build?

Yes — that's the whole idea. A single pair of hands from the first sketch through final finish. It keeps the details aligned and the budget honest.

How long does a typical custom home take?

Every project is different, but plan on roughly six to nine months of design and drawings before the first shovel, and twelve to eighteen months of construction after that. Barns and additions are often quicker.

Will you work with my architect, or my plans?

Happy to. We've built from outside drawings plenty of times and we'll flag anything we think is worth rethinking before we start.

Do you handle restorations on older homes and barns?

Restorations are a big part of the practice — 19th-century farmhouses, fieldstone foundations, dairy barns, timber frames. We preserve what's worth preserving and quietly rebuild what isn't.

What's the best way to start a conversation?

Call the studio at 914.447.8218 or send a note to nwallace129@hotmail.com with a little about the property and what you're thinking. First walk-throughs are no-pressure.
